Karate Kid Remake
This remake is based off of the famous movie Karate Kid first made in 1984. This version has Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son) as Dre, a teenage boy who moved from the U.S. to China because of his mom’s career. Dre tries to adjust to living in China but he lives in fear as bullies beat him up every chance they get. Witnessing this, Mr. Han (Mr. Miyagi in the 1984 version) played by Jackie Chan gets him out of trouble by teaching him the way of Kung Fu. Not only is Mr. Han teaching Dre how to defend himself or building his self-confidence but he is becoming a friend to the young protege. I’m a big fan of Jackie Chan and his acting performance in this role seems outstanding. As for Jaden Smith, living in Will Smith’s shadow is no easy task but he really seems like he is holding his own weight here. In a role like this it takes a lot of hard work to get the job done and it appears that he pulled it off.
