Review: Case 39
What is this? Renée Zellweger is in a movie that looks good… astonishing! This film stars Renée Zellweger in a role that doesn’t really fit her typical goofy-love stories that everyone is so used to seeing her play and instead she is playing in this reality bending horror movie.
The whole plot of the movie is Renée Zellweger character (Emily Jenkins)finds this little girl with an abusive family that tries to kill the little girl. She takes the kid away and lets the girl move in with her. Soon after weird stuff starts happening, they start hearing voices and footsteps. Then it goes up to a whole new level of weird when Emily’s friend (Doug played by Bradley Cooper) dies mysteriously by bugs that came out of nowhere. Emily interviews the parents and realizes that people around the little girl die, not by her own hand… they just die. So during the whole movie Emily is trying to protect the little girl from what appears to be some form of demons all the while trying to keep her on sanity.
This movie has that Freddy Kruegar feel in a sense that scary stuff happens that shouldn’t be able to happen in reality like doors warping to the point of exploding and people sinking down into the bed, literally. The only difference is they are wide awake, not asleep and instead of a maniac with knives for fingers chasing you, you have a bad luck charm for a kid causing bad things to happen unintentionally (or supposedly its unintentional).
True Renée Zellweger isn’t the best actress (in my book) and this will probably be another let-down but this is definetely looking to be the best Renée movie yet.
Watch the trailer, tell me what you think about it… your opinion is important. Are you a fan of Renée?
