Ronnie James Dio Dies at 67
This isn’t the typical ‘movie’ topic that Critic Approved usually does but I want to talk about this so I’m putting it in the ‘Personal Note’ section. The rock legend Ronnie James Dio has passed away on Sunday, May 16 2010 at age 67. He has been fighting stomach cancer and there had been rumors of his death but nothing had actually been confirmed until today. Ronnie’s wife Wendy Dio released a statement on Dio’s official site saying…
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.
- Wendy Dio
Ronnie James Dio was the front-man for rock groups such as Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and his solo career Dio. Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer back in November which caused him to cancel his European tour and he has been battling the cancer ever since. Dio’s cancer had been caught relatively early and the tumor had been decreased in size.
There is no question that he had great influence with his fans and with the music industry. Critic Approved just wants to say sorry to the family of Dio’s, he will be missed.
