The Expendables
So when I first heard of this movie, I had heard that it was a Sylvester Stallone movie. That is a gross explanation of what this movie is, however he did write, direct, and was a star in the movie. After watching the trailer I see a lot of famous faces, I was actually blown away at all the stars that will be playing in this one. Joining Sylvester Stallone we have Jason Statham, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, its also one of Brittany Murphy‘s last movies. Although I believe Arnold and Bruce only have small roles but this is still a very impressive cast here and just knowing that there is this much talent in one movie adds a lot of promise and (no offense to Sylvester) but this movie seems a lot better now that I know that it is not just another ‘Sylvester Stallone movie’.
This extraordinary cast play a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country to overthrow its dictator. The group deals with deceit and betrayal as their mission becomes a loss cause, and an innocent life is put in danger. Sylvester Stallone plays Barney Ross, a fearless leader for this band of men. Also in the group is Lee Christmas (Jason Stathome), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), Toll Road (Randy Couture), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren).
Okay, I just have to interrupt my own movie explanation to say that the names for this movie sound pretty dumb. Heres the rest of the explanation…
Barney and his team accept a seemingly routine mission to overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas). After learning that James Monroe (Eric Roberts) is their true enemy, they abort the mission leaving Sandra (Giselle Itie) behind leaving her with a death sentence. Barney and the others return to finish the mission and to try and save the hostage in the process.
