Two More Green Lanterns & The Flash

So it’s a little under a year until the release of the live action Green Lantern movie (July 17, 2011) starring Ryan Reynolds and there is already rumor for two sequels! According to BleedingCool, their source was with some of the production staff at a New Orleans bar and found out this vital piece of information from them while they were most likely drunk.

Seems that they are doing what Lord of the Rings did by starting on the next movie before the first one hits theaters and if thats the case then we could be looking at three Green Lantern movies in three years. The report says….

So confident of a smash are Warner Bros, that they already making big plans to use current shooting location New Orleans as a stand-in for DC’s Coast City in the sequel, which will be announced for either a Summer or Christmas 2012 release, depending on where the Flash movie fits in.

Also on the rumor department, seems DC wants to hit the movie industry hard making a movie based off the character The Flash. Seems they are going to base The Flash off of the version from the comics written by Geoff Johns who wrote the series The Flash: Rebirth. The title brought the Silver Age Flash, Barry Allen back to full prominence.

So Warner Bros. is taking some really gutsy moves putting so much confidence into Green Lantern to go ahead and schedule two additional Green Lantern movies along with making pans for The Flash. To have so much confidence in the movie means that Martin Campbell (the director) must really be doing an amazing job with the movie.

So with three Green Lanterns all together, The Flash, along with confirmations for a Batman 3, and Superman reboot… it seems that DC is hitting Marvel head on with their Iron Man series and Spiderman reboot. With DC coming out with all these DC super hero movies, the only logical outcome is to eventually have a Justice League movie to combat the Marvel equivalent, The Avengers which is set to release in 2012. With all this tug of war those only one certainty… we should get some really great movies out of it, can’t wait.
