Iron Man 2 Poster

Watched Iron Man 2

Jon Favreau can breath a sigh of relief, he has miraculously lived up to the expectations and the success of the last movie. ’Iron Man 2′ is very well done with Jon actually playing a role in the movie, to the incredibly talented Robert Downey Jr., also to the epic team up with War Machine and Iron Man to take down the foe Whiplash.

All during this movie I was trying to find something that I didn’t like about it only to fail. Every aspect that I didn’t like about the movie was soon turned around into a good thing.

(SPOILER ALERT)

For example, I didn’t like that at one point Tony Stark became very drunk while wearing the suit and started becoming a danger to all of his house guests. His friend James Rhodes steals an older version of the suit and attempts to stop Tony’s drunk rampage only to scare away the guests and destroy Tony’s house. True I don’t know that much about Iron Man lore and this could be a typical thing with Tony Stark in the comics but it just doesn’t seem like something that a superhero should do. They soon justified this by making Tony see how wrong this was and he eventually teamed up with War Machine to take down the bad guys. Also at the end with the final battle where Whiplash was fighting Iron Man and War Machine. That fight scene was entirely too short but they made up for it by adding a twist. Immediately after Whiplash’s defeat you find out that his suit along with a bunch of robot drones was set to self-destruct all across town. Worried about Pepper, Iron Man takes flight and races across town to save Pepper at the last second.

This is the second spoiler post I’ve written, the first one was based off an article I found about Justin Hammer’s history in the Iron Man comics. Justin Hammer is in the movie played by Sam Rockwell and from what I read, the plot of the movie seemed semi-accurate to the actual lore. The movie wasn’t exactly the same as the lore but it was pretty close. The main difference is that in the lore Justin invented a machine to take over Iron Man’s suit and made him kill a reporter. In the movie, Whiplash is working with Justin. Whiplash takes over War Machine to attack Iron Man. The hijacked War Machine along with a bunch of drones created by Justin fired at Iron Man all through town while Iron Man took out one drone after the other. Eventually Black Widow played by Scarlett Johansson and Pepper Potts reboot War Machine, giving James control over the War Machine armor again.

During this whole movie, Tony Stark is slowly being killed by the same device keeping him alive. The battery in his chest is also poisoning his body, so Tony uses clues givin to him by his late father to construct a new element that does not give off this poison and it seems to give him more energy.

At the end of the movie after the credits there was the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent arriving at a crater with a bunch of other agents surrounding it. In the dirt was a mace sticking up out of the ground giving the audience a hint of the upcoming movie ‘Thor’ and ‘The Avengers’.

Not a whole lot of negative remarks can be made about this movie, it is an excellent sequel that I highly recommend for everyone.

The girls name was Pepper, not Penny doofus.

And Tony Stark is actually a raving drunk in the comics, so that was actual pretty accurately portrayed.
