You Again
In this movie Kristen Bell plays Marni, a nerd in high school that has grown to be a successful adult. She finds out that her brother is marying the same person that bullied and tormented her all through high school, Joanna played by Odette Yustman. So now Marni’s bully is going to become her sister-in-law. Marni’s mom, Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis) tries to comfort Marni by telling her daughter about her own bully when she was in high school. Marni and Gail try to be as nice to Joanna as possible, after all she is part of the family now. After meeting Joanna’s family, they realise that Joanna’s mom is Gails bully from high school.
Just one dramatic twist after the other.
So, Gail must teach Marni how to treat her daughters former bully while keeping her cool about her own bully problems. Of course though it’s not always easy to sweep things under the rug as tempers fly and objects are thrown. This movie shows us how it’s hard to let go of the past and how difficult it is for people to change.
Now that I’ve gave a somewhat corny, over-explained synopsis of the movie… let me tell you what I really think of this movie. Sure, it’s an interesting idea for a movie and yes it has the possiblity to be a sort of funny movie (I doubt it). I could definetely see this movie being a sitcom or soap opera but as far as making it into a movie… I don’t really see a lot of promise out of this movie as of yet. Jamie Lee Curtis has some movies under her belt and it’s just nice to see a familiar face and Kristen Bell doesn’t exactly have the most familiar face but I loved her in the T.V. show ‘Heroes’… so the movie does have some talent to go on. Sadly ‘some talent’ and a some-what interesting story line is all this movie has going for it. I will probably rent this movie on DVD but that is about it.
